Every dollar donated helps us empower youth to be change agents in their communities. By investing in teens you not only improve their lives but the lives of everyone around them.

Here’s the impact you could make:

$10 – you can provide transportation to and from school for a teen for one month
$25 – you can provide five new storybooks for our Book Bank program
$50 – you can send a teen reading promoter on a two-day leadership retreat
$100 –  you can put on a reading festival for a community
$250 – you can outfit 5 reading promoters with supplies for reading activities
$500 –  you can send one teenager to high school for an entire year

One-time Donations

Public school is not free in Guatemala. Most children, if they attend school at all, do not study beyond the sixth grade. Your donation to a scholarship fund has a double impact because not only does it keep a student in school but the student instills the love of reading in younger children in the community, creating greater possibilities in their lives.
Provides a training workshop for teens in one Guatemalan community. Participants will build leadership and communications skills, while learning how to set goals and measure progress as agents of change.
$250 will cover a one-day reading festival for an entire community. Your donation celebrates the local leadership of our reading promoters, rallies a community around their work, and helps kids be excited by books.
$500 puts one teenager through one year of high school. Your funds directly empower him/her to develop leadership skills, while indirectly changing the lives of every child affected by the reading promoter’s work.

Educators for Global Literacy Fund

You're an educator. You've experienced first hand the difference that literacy can make in the lives of your students.
That's why we need your help. By making a small monthly gift to our Educators for Global Literacy Fund, you will join hundreds of other teachers who are stepping up to put an end to illiteracy everywhere.
For a monthly gift of just $10, you can guarantee that a child is read to for one hour every school day. With parents who are likely illiterate, these may be the first hours of reading this child ever enjoys.
For $50 each month, you can make sure that an entire class of school children enjoy one hour of story time every school day to help improve their creative and critical thinking skills.
With just $100 each month, you and your fellow teachers can ensure that all of the children in a Guatemalan elementary school receive at least one hour of story time every day.

Recurring Donations

Not a teacher but still want to make a recurring gift? Reading Village is engaged in long term partnerships with the communities where we work and your loyalty makes that possible. Your recurring monthly investment gives us the stability and continuity we need to grow our capacity and refine our impact.
Provides a reading promoter with transportation to and from school. This is the first barrier to education in rural regions where one school serves several communities.
Covers high school tuition for one teen reading promoter - including uniforms, fees, and transportation which are among the most common barriers to education.
Enables one indigenous teenager to participate in our Leaders and Readers program for one year, including a high school scholarship, leadership development, and literacy promotion.
