On June 12, every dollar donated will be matched 50%.
For one day only, head over to www.rvmatch.org to invest in the cycle of change in Guatemala.

Your contribution funds literacy, education, and leadership-development programs in marginalized communities.
  • $77,500 Raised in 2011
  • 402 Supporters
  • 10,000 Children Reached

Every dollar donated helps us to empower youth as change agents in their communities. By investing in teens you not only improve their lives but the lives of everyone around them.

Here’s the impact you could make:

$10 – you can provide transportation to and from school for a teen for one month
$25 – you can provide five new storybooks for our Book Bank program
$50 – you can send a teen reading promoter on a two-day leadership retreat
$100 –  you can put on a reading festival for a community
$250 – you can outfit 5 reading promoters with supplies for reading activities
$500 –  you can send one teenager to high school for an entire year

One-time Donations

Public school is not free in Guatemala. Most children, if they attend school at all, do not study beyond the sixth grade. Your donation to a scholarship fund has a double impact because not only does it keep a student in school but the student instills the love of reading in younger children in the community, creating greater possibilities in their lives.
$100
Provides a training workshop for teens in one Guatemalan community. Participants will build leadership and communications skills, while learning how to set goals and measure progress as agents of change.
$250
$250 will cover a one-day reading festival for an entire community. Your donation celebrates the local leadership of our reading promoters, rallies a community around their work, and helps kids be excited by books.
$500
$500 puts one teenager through one year of high school. Your funds directly empower him/her to develop leadership skills, while indirectly changing the lives of every child affected by the reading promoter’s work.

Recurring Donations

Reading Village is engaged in long term partnerships with the communities where we work. Your monthly investment gives us the stability and continuity we need to grow our capacity and refine our impact. Whether providing a steady stream of new books or covering tuition for a teenager, your investment directly impacts literacy rates in Guatemala.
