El Tejar is a little town not on any map. It´s called El Tejar because ´el tejar´ means tile and the local industry is floor and roof tiles made from the local clay. Here we saw a Montessori preschool that Child Aid is working with and we got a little time to play with the kids on the floor. I asked a little girl her name, and her answer was not audible. So I gave her my name nice and loud and I finally got her to answer so I could hear her say, Teresa. We played together for a while and she even managed to fight for my attention over the more boisterous and more outgoing boys next to us. It´s amazing how many lessons there are in stacking blocks…fine motor skills, try again, pride in success, patience when it all comes crashing down.
